The Mark of
Excellence Today
"Doing Business" and Moving Forward !
The 2007 season was a winning
one for The Mark of Excellence. In addition to participating
competitively in the spring at the Virtual Enterprise New York City
Trade Fair, where www.tmoe.biz won an award for website excellence,
student employees representing the company also distinguished
themselves at the annual Region 7 Virtual Enterprise Business Plan
Competition held in the December at New Dorp High School in Staten
Island. It was the finest showing by the Business Plan Team in many
years. Congratulations to those who participated!
2007 was also a year that also
witnessed unprecedented student employee participation in the
creation of goods and services provided to real clients. A
successful button and pin enterprise has been the result. The
selling of creative and decorative buttons was the idea of student
employees. Their creative energy and drive has made TMOE buttons and
pins a recognizable part of New Utrecht High School and the students
who go there. Beyond that, the button product line has gained a
reputation that has it in demand outside the school. The legendary
Pete Seeger has made his "Water Not Weapons" button part of his
environmental work, wearing the pin made in Room 411 at New Utrecht
High School. BACK TO THE TOP

Recognition for work done got a
big boost in December of the year when WABC News in New York City
sent a camera crew to record and profile the work done at The
Mark of Excellence. As our product line and expertise grows, so
does our reputation.

throughout New York City.) |
It all gets back to the hard work done by
student employees and the guidance by TMOE's coordinators,
Ms. Cathy Daskalakis, and Mr. Joel Landy. Special thanks go to Mr.
Michael Saporito for his support, consideration and time. This
program will always be grateful for his generosity.
The year 2008 picked up where
2007 left off. So far this year, following the lead of WABC, WCBS
News in NYC profiled The Mark of Excellence in
February.

Also in April of 2008, The
Mark of Excellence visited Wall Street and the
Museum of
American Finance, where student employees learned about finance in
the early days of this country, the history of
entrepreneurship in the United States, and how New York City
participates in the world economy. It was full day, which included
lunch on the steps of Federal Hall, across the street from the New
York Stock Exchange.
Trips like this one expand the world for young
entrepreneurs while giving them a glimpse of how money really works.
More trips are planned for the future.
Things are looking up for The Mark of Excellence. Stay tuned
and "Let's Do Business!"
